The IAWA will be 20 years old in 2005!
To celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2005, the International Archive of Women in Architecture is planning a major conference and exhibit in Washington, DC. The IAWA 20th Anniversary Celebration offers an opportunity to reveal the historic wealth and beauty of the archive's collections.

Historical, theoretical, and practical discussions of Women in Architecture amongst well-known designers and scholars.

20th Anniversary Exhibition: Towards 20 years of Collecting for the IAWA: a work in progress

Theme of exhibit is, Counterpoint: Pioneers and Contemporary Women Architects

Exhibition will open at 20th Celebration in Washington. Following, it will become a travelling exhibit.

Focus of exhibit is on women pioneers in the field of architecture whose work makes up the core of the archive, and their counterpoint, contemporary architects.

Second iteration of exhibit that is also a work in progress will be exhibited at SEWSA (South East Women's Studies Association) conference March 20-22, 2003, at Virginia Tech's Cowgill Hall. campus map

Call for Collections
A goal is to significantly increase the holdings and fill gaps in geographic and cultural representation of women in architecture and other design professions.

Contribute to the IAWA
To realize the 20th Anniversary Celebration, the IAWA seeks the support of public and private organizations and individuals. This is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate not only the archive, but also a century of achievement by women in the field of design. Donation of funds will support the exhibition, a published catalog, and archival research and documentation for the exhibition by Graduate Research Assistants.
