Scope and Content
The materials in the collection consist of architectural drawings, photographs and slides, project files, a model, a video tape, and writings by and about Torre. The materials almost exclusively focus on Torre's design of a residence in Amagansett, New York (referred to here as the Amagansett House although Torre often referred to it in her papers as the Garvey House), and its construction, spanning 1984 to 1987.
Provenance
The records were donated in May 1990 by Susana Torre to the International Archive of Women in Architecture, which is housed in the Special Collections Department of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Libraries. Torre retains all literary rights to her work, and permission to quote from it must come from her. Researchers may not reveal the names, addresses, or telephone numbers of Torre's clients until their death.
