Marcia Feuerstein, who was standing in for Donna Dunay, Chair, called the meeting to order at 11:30 AM. Professor Bliznakov observed that because only two of five voting members of the committee present, those present could not vote on any motions or discuss any official business. Professor Vernon suggested that the business of this meeting be postponed to the next meeting, scheduled for 9 February 1999 at 11:00 AM. Professor Marshall-Baker will lead the 9 February meeting.
Professor Feuerstein suggested that the members and visitors who were present might discuss selected agenda items informally and bring them to the committee for the next scheduled meeting. All present agreed.
Professor Feuerstein stated that she would review December's minutes in the next meeting.
Professor Bliznakov and Ms Beam presented a draft of the brochure. Professors Vernon and Feuerstein agreed to review the content and make suggestions so that it can be sent to the board members by the end of the month.
Professor Bliznakov also suggested that the mailing list must be updated to correct address changes and to make additions. Professor Feuerstein agreed, noting that the newsletter was sent to her previous address and forwarded.
Professor Bliznakov brought up a potential addition to the archive of the first woman archive in Seattle Washington. Both her son and her daughter have contacted the IAWA.
Professor Feuerstein discussed the status of the upcoming newsletter and contributors. Professor Bliznakov discussed the design of the Newsletter to prevent damage in the mail and by folding in half or not at all, rather than in thirds or adding a cover to the newsletter.
There were no updates on Acquisition Policy. Professor Feuerstein will contact Tony Wrenn and bring an update to the 9 February meeting.
Notes taken by Marcia Feuerstein, Secretary and submitted on 9 February 1999.
