IAWA Executive Board of Advisors
Meeting: May 9, 2000

Call to Order:
Chair Donna Dunay called the meeting to order at 12:30 am and reviewed the proposed agenda. The agenda was approved with some additions.
- Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the previous meeting were not ready to be approved.
- Treasurer's Report: Treasurer was not here to report.
- IAWA Research Prize in honor of Milka Bliznakov and report on stage two. Marcia Feuerstein reported on the jury findings and comments. The discussion focused on the name of the prize and the prize award.:
IAWA Research Prize: In the future, the prize will be offered in the name of the IAWA. In the event of a significant donation to the prize fund, the prize could also be offered in the name of the IAWA and that donor. The submission procedure will involve one deadline instead of two and the selection committee reserves the right not to award a prize in a given year. Future awardees will be asked to keep the IAWA abreast of their research progress subsequent to receiving the award and to submit finished products to the IAWA.
Stage two: Feuerstein reported that the jury selected Claire Bonney for her proposal to study "The Life and Work of Adrienne Gorska". She will use the Prize money to travel to Houston to interview Gorskas sister. Donna will draft a letter to this years finalists about the decision including a paragraph from the selection committee. This will be sent to the finalists along with the jury comments.
- The newsletter: Feuerstein reported that the newsletter is on schedule to be ready for annual meeting. Discussions about content, editing, and layout took place.
- Election of the new Board: Nominations are still coming in. Bert nominated Helen Searing. The elections are scheduled for mid June and there will be room for two new advisors to replace Favro and van Ginkel. Horton and Nobuko have decided to be re-elected.
- Others
Discussion of how to raise money for the archive: Milka would like to write to a select group of potential donors on behalf of the IAWA and the Research Prize.
