NOTE added to Diary- Janie Kinzer Callaway, Roseanna Croy's granddaughter who lived at Fairview (the Kinzer home on the Glade Road) remembers "the earthquake is 1898 - I went to the potato patch to shoo the chickens out. On returning to the house several bricks came rolling down from the chimney. Mary was hanging clothes on the pailing fence around the yard. She hurried, scared into the house."
