The town of Blacksburg has recently purchased a radar set for speed control within the town limits.
Chief Jack Goodwin, Blacksburg Chief of Police, stated that the unit was obtained from the state police in October. The cost to the town was about $400 including crystals and license.
Chief Goodwin said that the unit has been in operation for several weeks on a trial basis. The set will be used day and night throughout the town and especially on Main Street at the north and south entrances. Records show that most of the accidents occur at these places because of excessive speed.
