BIOGRAPHY

Joan Wood received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from M.I.T. in 1960. Following graduation, Wood established her own firm, Joan Wood Architects, in Boston in 1962. Most of the firm's work can be found in New England and includes a range of different projects. Joan Wood Architect's most recent work includes: Kosmos Market in Boston, Lodging House for the Working Homeless, Dorchester, MA, and the South End Community Health center, Boston, MA, and the "Ice House", Squam Lake, New Hampshire.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The collection consists of a catalog of Joan Wood Architects work, her résumé, and articles from the Boston Globe about her firm.

PROVENANCE

Joan Wood by way of Riosaria Piomelli donated the material in the collection in 2000. This collection is part of the International Archive of Women in Architecture (IAWA) housed in the Special Collections at University Libraries, Virginia Tech.
