                             COMMISSION ON FACULTY AFFAIRS

 

                                     April 6, 1990

 

  The meeting was convened in the Newman Library Board Room at 1:00 P.M.

 

  PRESENT:  L.A. Eng, F. Baumgartner, D.A. de Wolf, H.M. Kriz, J.D. McAlister,

            C.E. Polan.

            Guests: Doug Martin, Phil Sheldon, P. Orcutt.

 

  ABSENT:   H. Doswald, R. Sorensen, J. Duke, E.F. Carlisle, J. Hasselmann,

            A. Woodson-Robinson.

 

 

  I.     AGENDA

 

         The agenda was adopted.

 

 

  II.    MINUTES

 

         The minutes of the March 2, 1990 meeting were approved.

 

 

  III.   EFFECTS OF ELIMINATION OF MANDATORY FACULTY RETIREMENT

 

         Doug Martin (Employee Benefits) and Phil Sheldon (Institutional

         Research) led discussions on some of the issues raised by the

         elimination of mandatory faculty retirement.  Most of the

         discussion focussed on items that faculty should consider when

         planning for imminent or future retirement under the new policy.

 

 

  IV.    The meeting was adjourned at 2:05 PM.
