  1.  CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:

      Dr. Carlisle called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

 

  2.  The AGENDA was approved with the addition of "Other Business."

 

  3.  The MINUTES of the March 25, 1991 meeting were approved as distributed.

 

  4.  RESOLUTION 90-91. E, INCOMPLETE GRADES, SECOND READING - N. Spencer

 

      A motion was made and seconded to approve for second reading Resolution

      90-91.E.  The motion CARRIED.

 

  5.  COURSE CRITERIA COMMITTEE REPORT  - M. A. Lewis

      A motion was made and seconded to approve for second reading the March

      25, 1991 report.  The motion CARRIED.

      A motion was made and seconded to approve for first reading the April

      8, 1991 committee report.  Motion CARRIED.

 

  6.  OTHER BUSINESS

      Dr. Spencer stated that she was growing alarmed at the lack of communi-

      cation between a department that decides to cancel a course and the de-

      partment that requires that course for its majors.  She questioned the

      lack of a formal process to allow proper notification to departments of

      pending cancellations.  Carol Burch-Brown noted that this involves the

      greater issue of departments requiring courses outside of the depart-

      ment of the major.  Dr. Marchman observed that all checksheets must ad-

      here to the 30-day review process which should provide sufficient

      notice to departments.  Dr. White urged the commission not to add fur-

      ther layers of bureaucracy to the process.  Dr. Spencer suggested that

      this issue be added to the April 22, 1991 agenda for further dis-

      cussion.

 

  7.  Meeting adjourned at 3:15 p.m.
