EO/AA COMMITTEE EFFECTIVENESS Members of the EO/AA Committee met with consultants, Drs. Freddi Grooms and Herman Smith on October 28th. The President's Office should be receiving recommendations from Drs. Grooms and Smith concerning the University's EO/AA structure within the next few days. REPORT ON RECOMMENDATIONS 1. The changes in wording of the ALMA MATER proposed by the EO/AA Committee and approved by the Alumni Association are being reviewed by the committee responsible for studying the University's name problem. The committee does not appear to have any disagreements based on gender issues but rather on the proposed use of "VT" which they believe adds to the name confusion. 2. Lon Savage reported that the finance group asked to cost-out the recommendations made by the Child Care Committee has completed its work and has submitted its findings to President McComas. Dr. McComas will soon be announcing his decision on childcare in the near future. PROVOST SEARCH Jack Davis reported the Provost Search Committee has received a total of 93 applications and nominations. The screening of applicants and nominations is taking more time than the Committee anticipated, and on-campus interviews may not occur until March. NEW BUSINESS GOVERNOR'S EEO CONFERENCE The Governor's EEO Conference sponsored by the Virginia Equal Employment Commission was held the first week of November in Virginia Beach.
