1.4 Article IV. Officers SECTION 1. OFFICERS: The officers of the Faculty Senate are President, Vice-President, and Secretary. The President appoints a member of the Fac- ulty Senate to serve as Parliamentarian. SECTION 2. PRESIDENT: The President presides at all meetings of the Fac- ulty Senate and Cabinet and is Chairman of the Committee on Committees. At the opening session of the Senate in the Fall, the President shall outline the year's objectives. An annual report of the accomplishments of the Fac- ulty Senate during the year shall be prepared and distributed by the Presi- dent to the Senate, Faculty, Administration, and Board of Visitors. The President performs other duties prescribed in the Constitution and Bylaws or appropriate to the office. With the other officers, the President shall prepare the agenda for Cabinet meetings and, together with the Cabinet, will prepare the agenda for the Faculty Senate meetings. SECTION 3. VICE-PRESIDENT: The Vice-President acts in the absence of the President, is Chairman of the Commission on Faculty Affairs, and performs other appropriate duties. SECTION 4. SECRETARY: The Secretary distributes the agenda prior to each meeting of the Faculty Senate and Cabinet and records attendance and min- utes. The Secretary distributes the Cabinet minutes to senators and Senate minutes to the Faculty and other appropriate individuals or groups as di- rected by the Faculty Senate or Cabinet. SECTION 5. NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Each year a Nominating Committee appointed by the Committee on Committees shall nominate a slate of officers. The composition and responsibilities of the Nominating Com- mittee are prescribed in the Bylaws. Additional nominations may be made from the floor of the Senate. The time and manner of election of officers are prescribed in the Bylaws. SECTION 6. TERM OF OFFICE AND VACANCIES: Officers are elected for a term of one year and are eligible for re-election, but may not serve more than two years consecutively in one office. The beginning and ending dates of the terms of office are prescribed in the Bylaws. Vacancies in unexpired terms are filled in the same manner as are full terms.
