  Charge:    The  Advisory  Council on Human Rights and Social Responsibility
 
  serves a primary consulting role concerning human rights and social respon-
 
  sibility.  It reports jointly to the President and to  University  Council.
 
  Areas  for  consideration include:  making recommendations to the President
 
  that foster understanding and communication among the  many  multi-cultural
 
  subcommunities on campus; enunciating and nurturing principles that encour-
 
  age  increased diversity among students and employees; monitoring incidents
 
  of discrimination and abuses of professional relationships  that  occur  at
 
  the  University;  and  helping the President devise and coordinate programs
 
  which increase the sensitivity of students, staff, faculty, and administra-
 
  tors to each other.
 
 
 
  NOTE:  IT IS BEING RECOMMENDED THAT THIS COUNCIL BE  DISBANDED.  NO  ACTION
 
  HAS BEEN TAKEN ON THIS RECOMMENDATION TO DATE.
