Letters, deeds, promissory notes, invoices for goods and services, toll bridge fee receipt, child's watercolor, 13 pen and ink drawings of weaver's coverlet designs with titles of designs included. 89 loose items. Five bound leather volumes include accounts, recipes, etc.
Scope and Content
Letters from various members of the Godwin, Young, Trevey, Williams and other families of Botetourt, Rockbridge, and Roanoke Counties establishes the relationship between them as well as documents events and prices largely during the pre-Civil War period in Southwest Virginia.

Surveys of land for Moses McCormack and James Lauderdale. Tax payments and warrants made for several years to the county government. Grocery and supply lists including wheat, fabric, and thread. Poetry in memory of a deceased friend and to the poet's sister. Four letters from Mary M. Godwin to her daughter who is away at school. Letter from a tin ware dealer asking his nephew to enter into the business. Correspondence, weaving patterns, etc. Names include Trevey and Williams families, William H.
