----. June 17th 1798
Dear Sir
I was much disappointed by not naving your company on your return, as I wanted much conversation about Kentucky Lands ---- nor do I think your excuse is to entirely sufficient when you were so far from home, if it were a good one all society of married friends would lease until the whole family could make it convenient to visit, however there is no remedy now. The Bond mentioned in your letter I selecteed and enclosed to my Brother James,- Johnny not being at home, the other papers, together with the patent are sent by Mr. Shepard.
Yesterday I recd a letter from my Land merchant New york, requesting the patent to be sent on having some prospect of sale, by the first safe conveyence I will send them, in and our hopes we shall bee released of that wieght.
Tell Sister we have not increased our family yet, but are in Weekly expectation of it.
Accept our warmest affections
Yours Sincerely
Francis Preston
