Directions to Special Collections,
University Libraries, Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech is located in Blacksburg, Virginia, about 38 miles southwest of Roanoke. Special Collections is located on campus, within the Carol M. Newman Library.
From Interstate 81, take Exit 118 to reach the three exit ramps (A-B-C) for all three of the exits at this location. There is only one exit ramp serving the exits; missing the ramp means a trip north to Exit 128 or south to Exit 114 to turn around. Take Exit 118B to U.S. 460 West. This exit connects directly to the Christiansburg Bypass. Follow the signs for Blacksburg/Virginia Tech. The U.S. 460 bypass between Christiansburg and Blacksburg is a limited-access highway from I-81 to the campus exits.
Follow U.S. 460 West approximately 8.5 miles and take the Prices Fork Road - Downtown exit. On Prices Fork Road, turn right at the first traffic light, then take an immediate right into the Visitor and Undergraduate Admissions Center.
The center issues free visitor parking passes. You will need a parking permit to park on campus.
Staff at the center can also provide directions to Newman Library. The library is located near the Drillfield Drive / Kent Street and Drillfield Drive / Alumni Mall intersections and is on a plaza extending from Squires Student Center and the University Bookstore. The nearest parking to the library may be found around Drillfield Drive, on the Alumni Mall, and in the Squires lot.
