Dustin Hoffman was originally slated to star in Blade Runner (1982), but when he
pulled out of the project, the part went to Harrison Ford, who gave a virtuoso performance.
Another Ford part...that of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)...was to
have gone to Tom Selleck, but he was committed to his TV series, Magnum P. I.
Hoffman, incidentally, got his break when Robert Redford turned down the lead in The
Graduate (1967).
