VIRGINIA HERITAGE PROJECT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

March 16, 2001

Tompkins-McCaw Library
Virginia Commonwealth University

Present: Bradley Daigle, Susan Riggs, Lucious Edwards, Eric Ackerman, Gail McMillan, and Jodi Koste, recorder. Absent: Edward Gaynor

The forms are working well and there are no longer problems with parsing large files. Bradley will be making changes to the form (section 2) so that the order of the tags will be the same as the order outlined in the Retrospective Conversion Guidelines. The archdes will include the following in the order: did, admin info, biohist, scopecontent and organization.

Bradley distributed reports showing page progress and expenditures of student funding to date.

Bradley will change the frame on the public interface so that it will say Virginia Heritage Project instead of University of Virginia Library.

We still need guides from UVA Law Library and Health Sciences Library. Bradley will look into this. Eric will remind Vaughn Stanley that we still need a finding aid from the Leyburn Library.

Discussed plans for the evaluation and training session scheduled at 11 am. Bradley will recognize George Mason for exceeding their goal for mark-up pages. Congratulations GMU.

Training for 2nd year participants will be in September. Jodi will see if the teaching lab at the UVA Health Sciences Library is available. Bradley will be planning the actual training and will be calling on members of the executive committee to assist with some phases of the training. We will ask to have Daniel Pitti speak to the 2nd year participants for one hour to stress the importance of EAD.

The Executive Committee will meet next at 10:30 on Thursday, April 26, 2001 in Bradley's office at Alderman Library. At this meeting, the presentation for the VIVA Steering Committee will be designed.

The group adjourned to attend the evaluation and training session.
