PRESENT: Elsie Weatherington, Edward Gaynor, Gail McMillan, Susan Riggs, Nancy Hadley, Bradley Daigle, Jennifer Gunner and Jodi Koste (recorder)
The Executive Committee met over lunch following the general meeting of the Virginia Heritage Task Force held at the Library of Virginia.
Briefly discussed the cost of keeping the central processing unit operational. The budget would include salary money for the EAD specialists and funds for student workers. We will continue to develop this budget and planned for ways to sustain the central processing unit after the grant is completed.
Bradley asked that all first-year institutions send to him the number of hours students worked doing EAD mark-up (those students supported by grant money) and the number of hours other staff and project directors spent marking up finding aids in the last year.
Discussed other institutions who could be included in a potential extension/continuation of the current grant. These institutions include: The Handley Library (Winchester public library), Roanoke College, Jones Memorial Library (Lynchburg public library), Fairfax Public Library, Longwood College, Hollins College, Christopher Newport, Randolph-Macon College, Randolph-Macon Women's College, Rockingham/Augusta Historical Society, Virginia Union University, Hampton University and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Discussed upcoming training for 2nd year participants and made modifications to agenda distributed by Bradley. Bradley will check with Joan Klein to be sure that the proper software is available on the computers in the Carter Classroom of the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library.
The next Executive Committee meeting will be held at 10:30 on September 21st in Special Collections at Alderman Library, University of Virginia.
