VIVA Special Collections Committee
Minutes
June 2, 1995
Alderman Library, UVA
Attendees: Ned Berkeley (UVA), Kay Domine (W&M), Paul Koda
(GMU), Gail McMillan (VPI), Betsy Pittman (VCU) and guests invited
for the photographic scanning training.
The meeting was extremely brief and covered only those
developments that had occurred since the April meeting.
- The Special Collections Subcommittee is now the Special
Collections Committee with direct representation to the Steering
Committee. Nancy Marshall of William and Mary is our liaison.
- Betsy shared the letter she had received from Jean Major (ODU)
regarding the status of Special Collections at that institution and
their participation in this portion of the VIVA project. At this
time the library does not have a special collections program but
will contact the committee when their plans are more fully
developed.
- Committee members were informed that the Steering Committee had
approved $3,000 for the Cornell workshop. Further questions will
be relayed to Nancy for clarification.
- Discussed the current status of LVA representation on the
SCC.
- Set a tentative date of mid-September for our next formal
meeting. Gail has volunteered to make the appropriate links to
specific institutions from the draft Homepage (based at Tech).
Members were requested to send the addresses to her when they
become available.
The meeting was adjourned for training at 10:30 am.
Respectfully submitted,
Betsy Pittman
