Pioneer in aerial mapping and designer of the first mapping camera used in an airplane in the United States (1918). Graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (1909); executive in the Philadelphia engineering firm of Brock and Weymouth. Papers consist of an original photograph of Cahill standing next to the camera he designed (ca. 1920); an offprint of an address given by Cahill to the Engineers Club of Philadelphia (1939); and copies of Cahill's obituary notices and correspondence of his widow, Mrs. Jane Cahill (1974-82).
