Mary Brumfield (Gernett) entered Virginia Tech as a junior in 1921 and was the first woman to graduate in 1923. Lucy Lee Lancaster, Carrie Sibold, and Ruth Terrett (Earle), and Billie Kent Kabrich (Shanks) entered as a freshman in 1921. Billie Kent Kabrich left before graduation, and her place in the class was taken by Louise Jacobs.
