January 8, 1802 -- letter from Susanna Smith Madison [Peyton] to her uncle James McDowell.
Belleview Jany 8th 1802
My dear Uncle,
Enclosed you will find the Patton of the Land, that I have at length concluded to dispose of; and which you were so good, as to offer to advertise. The Patton I hope well enable you, to give a description of the Land, much better than anything I could say concerning it. I have fixed on no, particular price; but suppose it, must be worth from a Dollar, to nine shillings an acre. However you may sell it for whatever you may think proper. I am willing to take property at cash price in part payment- I am extremely sorry to give you this trouble but the mannner I am situated I hope will be an apology- My health is far from being re-established for I have been much afflicted for several days past with a violent pain in my side. Offer my Love to Aunt McDowell and family. And believe me to be your affectionate
Neice
Susan S Madison
